1996- After 3 years in Los Angeles, I was becoming comfortable with my evolving style.  I style was developing a consistent process.  I was painting images about Los Angeles, family, education, history and politics.  I had a vocabulary and my characters were becoming regular fixtures in my work.  My work was now becoming recognizable.  As far as my landscapes, I was looking for those neglected places of beauty.  My figurative work emphasized the important role women played as mothers, leaders and visionaries.  I continued to sample images from history and culture, focusing on the important role calaveras played in forming an iconography for Chicano Art.
